Talbot Heath School 125th Anniversery

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Talbot Heath School in Bournemouth was 125 years young and last Friday saw the school celebrate this milestone by having a day full of events staring with a champagne reception followed by a concert played by the school’s own pupils in our marquee. As part of the commemorative events the school opened back up one of their own air raid shelters which were actually used in the war. The shelter has been refurbished to how it was back then to become part of a living history classroom and will be a permanent archive for the school. Other events that will be happening throughout the day will be hockey and tennis matches with pupils dressed in period dress and period rackets, a fashion show of the uniforms throughout the years and historical tours led by current and former pupils.

Baroness Shirley Williams will be opening the air raid shelter and the Quad, which has been given a new lease of life.

To cover all the guests coming to this special event we hired a very large marquee complete with our infamous levelled flooring system to provide a level surface for all ages to walk on, full linings with the school’s corporate Blue valances, hundreds of chairs and tables with white damask table cloths, plus a large stage, lighting, heating and power distribution equipment.

Interesting facts: there were over 350 boards laid on the floor, 30 tonnes of equipment delivered, 2 days to install by Chris and Nick and our newest member of elegance Kurtis.

Garden Wedding Marquee

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Congratulations to Pauline and John on their wedding which happened last weekend. We all hope you had a lovely day and was nice and warm in the marquee which we hired at their home in Southborne, Dorset.

As the garden just outside the patio doors had an unlevel surface and a slight raised concrete area, we installed our hardwood flooring to provide a level surface. As well as ivory linings with vivid purple valances, we hired lighting and furniture.

Thanks to Nick and Chris who installed & striked this project.

Frosty Marquee Hire @ Holton Lee

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Wow what cold hands we had this morning when the Elegance boys and I went to dismantle our marquee at Holton Lee near Wareham, Dorset.

The marquee was hired for a joint 30th birthday party over the weekend.

As there was lots of frost on the ground and areas of mud the client wisely choose to have the hardwood flooring system in their 9m marquee which had the capacity to accommodate their 150 guests.

Even the smokers at the party felt special by having their own reception canopy area where they could puff away.

We also provided furniture for the party and lighting to illuminate the tent in these lovely dark winter days.

Poole Beer Festival

Monday, November 1st, 2010

SOLD OUT !

These are very common words for the people who organised the Poole Beer Festival on behalf of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ales). Tickets for the two day event held at St Aldhelms Church in Branksome near Bournemouth went fast as this ever popular event drew near.

The festival showcased over 85 real ales and had entertainment from such likes as Lady Winwood’s Maggot.

We hired a 9m marquee to accomodate up to 250 of the thirsty real ale fans coming to the festival, along with matting, lighting trestle tables and lots and lots of chairs. Most importantly, as the event was over a weekend in late October we hired a large thermostat controlled heating system to keep everyone nice and cosy!

Goose Camp 2010

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Unlike the title suggests, this is not a glorious camping holiday for geese!

It was in fact a massive gathering of scouts, cubs and beavers for a once in four year event that is organised by Dorset Scouts. The venue was their very own camping site ‘Buddens’ which is based just outside Wareham in Dorset.

The event which lasted five days atracted over 17,000 guests! who enjoyed activities like archery, water slides, tunnelling, raft-building and zip-wiring.

The aim of Goose, which stands for Great Outdoor Opportunities for Scouting Experience but is also named after the flock of geese living on-site, is to give Dorset’s Scouting community the chance to make new friends, have fun, learn skills and experience activities that they might miss out on in everyday life.

So how did we assist this event? – Well we provided over 15,000 square feet of covered areas for the different activities  which consisted of mostly our 9m and 12m range of marquees. In addition, we installed a food hall of 5,600 square feet, this had the capacity to accommodate a whopping 900 guests!  Trestle Tables, Folding Chairs and Lighting were amongst other items hired.

Its all about connections..

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Hello Friends,

Heard the latest?

At Holton Lee, near Wareham this week saw the Connect 2010,  a five-day teaching and worship event where hundreds of people of all ages can connect and grow together in Word and Spirit.

But shortly before a team of 6 Elegance boys invaded the site to install the two main marquees, one being 150 feet long. This involved more than 10 tonnes of equipment being delivered and erected, and over 600, yes, 600 folding chairs for worshipers to sit on. We also installed blackout linings, a huge 35 sq metre litedeck stage, plasma screens, lighting, cabling and laid over 5o rolls of polypropylene matting.

Rebecca’s Wedding at Nothe Fort

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Thanks to Rebecca for choosing Marquee Elegance to provide one of our 9m range of marquees at Nothe Fort near Weymouth / Portland.

Firstly we installed our hardwood flooring system followed by the marquee fitted out with a pure ivory color coordinated interior. Rebecca also choose to have 5ft round tables with white linen and champagne top table covers surrounded by limewash chavari banqueting chairs.

We also provided additional equipment from easels, lighting, crockery (dinner plates / desert bowls / tea & coffee pots), cutlery and glassware to a 3m refrigerated trailer.

What a view from the top of Nothe Fort:

Surprise Party!

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

We were called in to assist Ian, a publican who owns a pub in Pokesdown, near Bournemouth to surprise his wife on their joint 40th Birthdays.

We squeezed into the pub garden a 6m x 15m marquee and to take out the undulations in the ground and to provide a solid dancing area, we installed our hardwood flooring system.

An ivory and burgundy theme was required inside the marquee and to add a bit of contrast we added a few roushed burgundy wall linings.

Other equipment that we provided included, black candelabras (including all the cabling), folding chairs and trestle tables.

A special requirement of this contract was to install the marquee on Saturday morning to help with the surprise, which of course Marquee Elegance was happy do accommodate.

Wilton House Wedding Exhibition

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Hello All,

Thanks Dawn, Tammy and Julie for putting together a fantastic show at Wilton House near , Salisbury in Wiltshire.

Wilton is famous for producing quality carpets and for its stately home Wilton House, which proved to be a fantastic venue. The general opinion amongst exhibitors was that the day was very successful. It was the first time that Jos was on our stand alone and what a success she had with 18 potential clients giving us their details requesting information. Thanks Jos for stepping into my shoes and running the stand for me whilst I oversaw another site back in Bournemouth.

We erected our 9m marquee with a 3m walkway leading back into Wilton house. The main marquee was completed with hardwood flooring and full linings in Burgundy. We also provided heating, tables, lighting, electrics, matting, guttering systems & more.

Here’s the photos:
