One Weekend – Five Wedding Venues Created

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

Last weekend saw team elegance creating five superior wedding venues in Dorset and Wiltshire. The elegance boys started off by delivering all the equipment necessary to create a superior wedding venue (apart from the tent itself) to Dean’s Court House in Wimborne. The team there has just started to hire out the house for weddings and functions this year and information can be found here (http://www.deanscourt.org/).

Next on our hit list was to install the venue for Richard and his bride to be at Birkin House (http://www.birkinhouse.com/), near Dorchester where we are lucky enough to be one of the main suppliers of marquees and event equipment. This marquee had a separate catering tent where Amanda, David and Louise from Merlins Catering (http://www.merlinscatering.co.uk/) were hard at work preparing a feast for the happy event. We also provided all the equipment for the Bar, including chillers and pumps and of course the lovely liquid itself!

Then we were back with Andrew and Alex over looking Poole harbour at Harry Warren House (http://www.harrywarrenhouse.com/) in Studland, this venue must be one of the best if you like your sea views! Aurelia instructed us to install the marquee to the side of the house, a new place for us, as we normally install the marquees in front of the house where its more level. No problem though, using our flooring system we managed, with the help of over 1500 pieces of packing wood, to level the floor and install the marquee. Another catering tent was professionally guttered and ducted to the main marquee and this time the team at Nomad catering (http://www.nomadfood.co.uk/food/)  providing the delicious food.

Moving next to Nothe Fort in Weymouth (http://www.nothefort.org.uk/) and going from an unlevel site to a perfectly level parade ground, although this site still has it’s challenges, and one of them is not to use stakes to anchor the marquee so bang, load on the flooring system boys, another occasion where we were glad that we have invested so much into the flooring and are now the largest stockholder of this type of flooring in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire! This time the hog roast food was provided by Posh Pigs (http://www.poshpigshogroast.com/)

Lastly, we went to Wiltshire for Becky to install her marquee at Gurston Farm, a new venue for us but the great thing there is that they have a hall which has a kitchen, bar and toilet facilities right next to where the marquee was sited avoiding the need to hire it all in. Best of all was the view to be had over the valley.

Party Marquee in Southbourne

Monday, April 11th, 2011

“With the recent heatwave the marquee came in really useful for some shade”, that’s the comments received when the elegance boys Ashley and Chris, turned up to collect our 3m marquee from a private property in Southborne, Dorset. Sue & Steve celebrated their birthdays and said goodbye to their friends before moving to Cornwall with a big party held at their home.

We provided a marquee as an extention to their home coupled with our innovative flooring system to level off the site especially where the drive dropped away towards the road.

We all wish you the best of luck for the future.

What a drop…..

International Horse Trails – Somerley House

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Last weekend saw the return of the International Horse Trails at Somerley Estate, near Ringwood, Hampshire. Now in it’s fifteenth year, this important spring fixture attracts riders at all levels from all over the world.

We hired three temporary venues, the smallest for Savills, the property agents, included basic flooring and furniture. A 6m x 15m traders marquee and a whopping 110 feet long main tent, split into sections for sponsors, public restaurant, kitchens, secretary’s office and VIP’s where we also installed a hardwood floor throughout and stylish aluminium doors.

We also hired hundreds of chairs including our lime wash chavari banqueting chairs for the VIP’s, round and trestle tables, generator and power distribution for the immediate site.

Melanie’s 40th Birthday Party Marquee

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

Lets get 2011 started and what better way than creating a venue for Melanie to celebrate her 40th Birthday Party.

Melanie asked us to install a marquee in her garden in Studland, Dorset which was on a slight slope, which is OK for the friendly pheasant but not so good for guests to dance on. No problem though, our lovely hardwood floor system once again proving invaluable. Once we had a level surface, we installed a 9m x 12m marquee complete with ivory linings throughout. Lighting was provided via black candelabras and LED colour washing up lighters. Other equipment that was hired was our new poseur tables (bar tables) and 4ft round tables & banqueting chairs; bar counters, coat rails and most importantly heating!

We needed to get our skates on!

Thursday, December 23rd, 2010

We were fortunate enough to assist a local entrepreneur to create two ice rinks, one outside his very own house in Southborne, Dorset and another in Fareham, Hampshire over this Christmas and new year period.

We achieved the outdoor ice rink in Dorset by hiring our wooden flooring system that was installed perfectly level across two front gardens, this was then later covered in ice to provide the surface of the rink. Making sure it was level was paramount and we used over 200 concrete blocks and hundreds of pieces of packing wood to achieve this.

The rink in Fareham was laid directly onto a leveled surface, so the only requirement was a marquee to be used as a temporary cafe, reception area and boot room. We installed a 12m x 30m marquee with panoramic windows facing the ice rink.

Frosty Marquee Hire @ Holton Lee

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Wow what cold hands we had this morning when the Elegance boys and I went to dismantle our marquee at Holton Lee near Wareham, Dorset.

The marquee was hired for a joint 30th birthday party over the weekend.

As there was lots of frost on the ground and areas of mud the client wisely choose to have the hardwood flooring system in their 9m marquee which had the capacity to accommodate their 150 guests.

Even the smokers at the party felt special by having their own reception canopy area where they could puff away.

We also provided furniture for the party and lighting to illuminate the tent in these lovely dark winter days.

RIAS Fashion Show

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Local over 50′s insurance company RIAS organised a free fashion show in Bournemouth at the Castlepoint Centre to raise funds for its chairty of the year: Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event featured shows every hour, and showcased clothes from the Autumn and Winter collections of Marks & Spencer, Miss Selfridge and Next. RIAS employees volunteered their spare time towards the day, from catwalk modelling to helping out behind the scenes.

We assisted the event by using our 6m range of marquee as a changing area for the models, behind an I shaped stage, installed using our litedeck staging system.

The first challenge of this event was the strict installation and striking times that we had to adhere to and the safety of hundreds of shoppers as this was being done. The second was that we couldn’t stake the marquee in the usual way, so we overcome this problem by utilising our hardwood flooring system to anchor the marquee and provide a dry solid floor for the models.

Buckhorn Western Cricket Club Ball

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

On a hot day in Buckhorn Western near Gillingham, we installed our 12m range marquee complete with a 6m extension to accommodate bar facilities for the local cricket club annual ball.

Of course, we also installed our innovative flooring system for the whole marquee, that’s over 240 boards to lay and 8 tonnes of equipment to install – all in one day! – once again a great job done by the Elegance boys.

We also installed our litedeck staging system, basic chandelier lighting and 200 anthrasite folding chairs.

The cricket club was founded in 1997 and if you are interested in playing then visit www.b-wcc.co.uk

Kingston Maurward Country Fair & Open Day

Friday, June 25th, 2010

We were very pleased to be able to assist Jemma and her team with providing a temporary venue for the Kingston Maurward annual country fair / open day, near Dorchester.

We installed 11 seperate structures around the site for the various departments to give advice for those looking to start a new career or just learn a new skill. Our 9m and 6m range of marquees were perfectly suited to this task.

The college is home to some 400 students and offers over 300 full time and part time courses. Well known for its rural and land based subjects, there are courses for everyone including outdoor adventure, equine, IT and business related studies. Those interested in the college visit www.kmc.ac.uk

We also installed our hardwood flooring system in one of the marquees for a cookery demonstration and provided trestle tables, matting and folding chairs as well.

What a LUSH marquee!

Monday, June 21st, 2010

When LUSH, the global successful cosmetic company that are based in Poole gave us a call requiring marquees for two separate events at their head offices, we leapt at the opportunity to demonstrate our “superior venues”.

We installed our 6m marquee complete with hardwood flooring, litedeck stage, and blackout lining for an area where presentations were to be held. The 9m marquee, had a much larger stage and also our renowned hardwood flooring system for the LUSH FEST 2010 which also featured live music.
